Christa Dalmazio is a soprano and conductor whose work centers on the music of the Mass. Trained at the Manhattan School of Music, where she earned her Doctor of Musical Arts under Catherine Malfitano, she has sung as a soloist at Carnegie Hall and Avery Fisher Hall and directs sacred music for parishes and the Higher Word Orchestra. She also plays harp, organ, piano, and strings.

Christa Marie Dalmazio is a soprano and conductor from Colts Neck, New Jersey. She trained at the Manhattan School of Music, earning bachelor’s and master’s degrees in vocal performance and a Doctor of Musical Arts, studying throughout with the soprano Catherine Malfitano. Her dissertation, The Aesthetic of Beauty in Eucharistic Repertoire, examines the sacred solo music most fitting for the Mass.

The Metropolitan Opera’s Laffont Competition named her an Encouragement Award winner three years running, and the National YoungArts Foundation gave her a Merit Award in Classical Voice. She has sung as a soloist at Carnegie Hall and Avery Fisher Hall and in churches on both sides of the Atlantic, and she toured France and Canada as a soloist with the Concordia Youth Chorale.

Sacred music is her vocation. As music director of the Higher Word Orchestra and director of music for parishes and schools across New Jersey, she has helped build a choir and orchestra of sixty that fills churches in New York City. She plays the harp, organ, piano, viola, violin, and cello, provides music for weddings and funerals, and teaches privately. Her work follows the Church’s via pulchritudinis, the way of beauty.
